A Beginners Guide to Baccarat
Baccarat is one of the easiest casino games to play. It is a sheer luck-based game that packs a lot of fun without too many complex rules. The purpose of the game is to select the winning
hand, which is either the banker’s hand or the player’s hand. You only need a minute to familiarize yourself with it. Baccarat aims to end with a value of 9. The aces are 1, the tens are 0, and the Baccarat cards from 2-9 have their face value.
Know the Hands
On the baccarat table, you can bet your money on three things: the player’s hand, the banker’s hand, or the tie. By adding the values of these cards, the value of a hand is determined.
The Player’s Hand
A player’s hand is always dealt first. The dealer will call out the total of their two cards. If the sum of the two cards is equivalent to or higher than 6, the player should “stand”, meaning they can’t draw another card. However, if it is less than 6, the player can draw another additional card.
The Banker’s Hand
The banker’s hand is dealt after the player’s hand. Hence sometimes the fate of this hand depends on the player’s hand. For example, If the total of the banker's first two cards amounts up to 7 or higher, no card is drawn by the banker.
If a bankers total of these two cards is 0, 1, or 2, then only one card is drawn by the banker. If the first two cards from the banker sum up to any amount between 3 and 6, either the player or the banker will draw another card.
The Tie
You can place your bet on a tie if you predict that the two hands are going to end with an equal value. However, you should always try to avoid placing your bets on a tie as the house edge is significantly high.
Payout Amount in Baccarat
If you bet on the hand of the winning dealer, you’ll pay a commission of 5 per cent for the dealer to collect. The payout ratio is 1 to 1. If you bet on the hand of the winning player, your payout is even, which is also 1 to 1. However, if you place a bet on the hand of winning the tie, the payout is 8 to 1.
The house edge is 1.06% for the dealers bet, 1.24% for the players bet and 14.36% with an 8-deck shoe on the tie bet.
Baccarat Strategies
For someone who is starting with table games, baccarat can be a great introduction. As baccarat is generally a game of luck, there is no need to get too worked up about the strategies or worry about lessening your house edge. Here, it is fixed, unlike other table games.
The most important thing to keep in mind is to manage your money properly. Don’t make bets that you cannot afford. Also, don’t increase the bets when you are losing! As it is a fast-paced game, if you do not keep an eye on how much you’re spending, you may end up taking a major financial hit. Aim to win small amounts rather than big ones when gambling online!
