A Beginners Gude To Craps

Craps is one of the most exciting classic casino games. But when it comes to playing craps online, the experience only gets better.

The rules of this game are pretty simple. Even though it may look intimidating to you at first, craps is simply a luck-based game, where you can have loads of fun without focusing too much on strategies.

To play craps, you have to bet on a pair of dices from one or multiple rolls. A big perk of this game is the house edge.

The Basics of Craps Online

Craps is played in rounds, where players place their bets on various portions of the table. The players are also called shooters. The table is divided into different sections, and each section embodies a different bet.

Since you’re betting on the shooter, the outcome of the shooter’s roll will determine whether you win or lose. Usually, the first roll of the dice is known as the come-out roll.

The Bets

Though there are many betting possibilities in craps, the safest bets are simple. Here are the three most popular ones:

Pass Bet

A pass line bet is the most basic one as it carries the lowest house edge (1.41%) compared to others. If you bet on the pass line, it means you’re betting on the person throwing the dice. So, if they win, you will win too, and vice versa!

For instance, if you bet on the pass line and the shooter rolls out a 7 or 11, it’s a win. If they roll out a 2, 3, or 12 (Craps), you lose. What’s left is 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, and 10 which are known as the point numbers. If you the shooter rolls out any of these point numbers, for example, number 6, he has to keep rolling the dice till he rolls another 6.

If he rolls a 6, before he rolls a 7, then you win. If he doesn’t you lose!

Don’t Pass Bet

The Don’t Pass bet is the opposite of the pass bet sporting an incredibly low house edge of only 1.36%. You win if you hit 2 or 3, you tie if you hit a 12 and you lose by hitting 7 or 11. The Don’t Pass bet is actually one of the safest bets for a beginner.

Odds Bet

Odds Bet has zero house edge, therefore your Odds Bet should be as big as possible. But the casino has a limitation on how much you can bet in this case. Some casinos also offer higher odds such as 5X, 10X odds. Some even offer as high as 100X odds, though they are not very common.

Place Bet

Place bets are only handled by the dealer. You can make place bets on any of the number points i.e. 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 and 10. There is a minimum bet required and it may vary from casino to casino.

Place bets can be made anytime and can also be taken down at any time. Offering higher payouts with a very risk-free approach, this is one of the safest bets to make on craps!

Tips for Winning

The best strategy to play craps is on focusing on managing your bankroll and minimising the house edge. Combining this with the best bets can help you enjoy the games for longer and walk away with winnings.
